When I went to Italy last time I visited the Vatitian and it was actually really sad because outside would be people selling cheap stuff for tourists and others who were begging. Some were missing limbs or just had that look like they had been out on the streets for a while. It really broke my heart to see them and then go into the Vatician. The gift shop was outragous, there was all this stuff that was completely usesless and cost a fortune like a marble bust of the pope. I'm sorry but who needs something like that for $150? There was all this precious artwork in the Vatician which I had no problem with but some things in there were so pointless it really made me wonder. You're bringing up a very good point that I honestly hadn't thought about before now, thank you very much!

Sorry, I am not catholic but I do know that although the Pope lives in the Vatican he lives a modest lifestyle, has only a small apartment and has few or no personal possesions. Don't be so hard on him, you would do well to admire him over many other people in the world.

thats just the way things are it isn't his fault that people are poor and if you were really into your faith it wouldn't bother you so much. being a catholic doesn't mean you have to agree with all the things the chruch does but you have to accept them and to learn something from them

What is more, people mass together to get a glimps of him. They come close to worshiping him. Most of those people have probably practiced birth control. A good many of them are divorced.

It's because he has taken on a role that was never meant to be filled. The Bible says there is one mediator between man and God, that being Jesus Christ. The name "Holy Father" is also misleading, the true "Holy Father" is Jehovah, and we do not need an earthly representation of Him. The Bible says that all have sinned and fall short of God's glory, therefore nobody is in themselves, "holy". The Pope has been placed in a position of glory that is to be given to God alone, and Jesus, when He was on earth, never had a place to lay His head, though he had all power and right to everything in the world He created. The Pope is supposed to be an example of Godliness, I have yet to see such sacrifice as is due.

That's one of the many reasons I could never be a Catholic. The Catholic Church is modeled after the Roman Empire in its hierarchy. It is a political organization that claims to get its authority not from a constitution, act of parliament or people but from a higher source, God. Kings in the past took from the poor to protect them from earthly enemies. The Church invented an ingenious system of reward and punishment where they took from the people in return for protection against something that no one can refute its existence. The aim is the same. Both kings and Popes wanted to live an easy life and wield power. Only the kings were more honest, even the most evil of them.
