If the world is coming to an end, why are the press talking about it and not religious societies? i.e. Vatican
I do not consider myself religious at all, even though I am an Irish-Catholic living in NJ, USA. I keep seeing the press and media talking about World War 3 and the end of the world on television and on websites because of all the wars and violence and conflicts going on in South West Asia. I personally don't beleive that there is a divine, supreme being that created us all, but if the world really is coming to the end, why aren't notorious religious societies saying anything about it, like the Vatican for example being the icon for the Catholic Church.

World war 3 is not going to happen. The world will one day come to and end. I am not sure when but I think it will be within the next 40 years. It doens't matter as long as your saved because if you are saved the end won't hurt you@

well first of all, u should kno that the press always make everything look much worse than it really is bcuz it boosts their ratings. and religious organizations aren't saying anything bcuz they don't kno....its all a bunch of baloney. there isn't gonna be an end of the world per se, jesus isn't gonna come save all the "good christians" asses, however, we may kill ourselves off bcuz of global warming, and the sun will eventually explode

The answer to this is in the nature of the media. I do not think that the media really believes World War 3 is on the horizon. But what I do believe is that this is just another example of just how far the media will go to keep people watching the news. I agree that the religious groups are not talking about the end of the world. Why? Because they do not see the evidence of a major world war on the horizon. And religious or not, I will have to agree with them. Since about 1980, the news media has changed their format and approach to the news. The intent is to go for ratings, just like any non-news programming has done. So what did they do? The media overstates many things, and makes sweeping generalizations of gloom and doom to shock people into watching. Ever notice how often something is termed a "crisis?" And the news media has succeeded. By running over-done stories and glamorizing the violence, which now seems to dominate even local news, people are watching. And why not? Is is just entertainment, not news! This is why I say the media does not believe that the world is nearing its end; it is just their latest wrinkle to keeping people watching to see what is next. And soon enough the media will find a new "exciting" theme. Yeah, a new "crisis."

They're too busy lining their pockets to worry about everyone else like they should. You don't see them over in Asia helping these poor buggers. They're just sat in their lavish, expensive offices counting the pennies while the poor starving people of the world continue to die at an alarming rate.
