Does the pope or the people in the Vatican have money

Does the pope or the people in the Vatican have money?
If for some reason they would have money why the hell don't they help end starvation. the same goes for every other church in the world. you think your good but are you really doing anything good when all you do is pray for the unfortunate to go to heaven. Your beliefs do not apply to the life we live now. Faith and prayers won't save the unfortunate. god won't do everything for mankind there are things in this world that mankind have to achieve on their own. yes, people make mistakes but they should not be condemned until death. there should the chance that awaits their will. I believe every church has the opportunity one way or another. Create a program where they help the homeless get a job as long as their willing to get one. some body has to do something. I know there is enough money in this world to end starvation the question is if i was rich would i be greedy and not help anyone? People enlighten me i may not know much about the church system. but my mind is always open to your opinion on how to save the homeless, and those who are starving in this world in overall the less fortunate.

Even more than the leaders of the Morman Church! And that's a lot of green!!! Don't you remember all those truck loads of cash Jesus used to drag around with Him? If you ain't got a lot of $$$$, you ain't a good Christian.

If the Pope choose he could spend every night sleeping on a huge pile of money in a bedroom full of gold. The man is obscenely rich, as is the Catholic church in general. Why don't they do more for the world? Simple answer; greed and ignorance.

Sorry you are so ignorant. Catholic Charities is the largest religious charity in the world and helps people who are homeless plus having food kitchens and community outreach services for clothes and bags of food to take home every week. The Pope is not rich. He gets no salary and lives in a small apartment. Remember he has taken the vows of poverty, chasity and obedience when he became a priest. It great that you are concerned about the homeless and the poor. There are many other churches and evangelists on TV that have plenty of money to help the poor but I never see any $$ donated by them!.

The Catholic Church and Catholic organizations are the biggest charitable givers in the world. Remember, Christ said, "The poor in your midst you will always have..." Catholic Relief services works worldwide to help people in everyday needs and also in emergencies. Catholics also are the biggest employers from Churches, universities and hospitals not to mention social services. Catholics also run more thrift shops, homeless shelters and soup kitchens than anyone else here in the US as well as abroad. Catholics also run more orphanages than any other single group in the world. All that being said, can the Church do more? Sure, but she relies on volunteers for most of these works, and volunteers aren't always easy to come by. The pope does not have any personal wealth per se. He lives in a sovereign nation called Vatican which is furnished by 2000 years of donations from people. The pope not only is the head of the Catholic Church on earth and thus directs bishops, but he also holds some political clout and uses it to speak up for the oppressed and disadvantaged. These would be people like the poor in Africa, the persecuted Christians worldwide, the elderly and the pre-born. Before people bash Catholics or say they aren't doing enough, they should look into what the Church and other Catholic groups do around the world. The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic service organization and they were the FIRST ones to donate money to the victims of 9-11 and the FIRST ones to donate when the tsunami hit Asia. Catholic Relief Services were the first ones helping after Katrina and the Tsunami... They are everywhere everyday helping people with food clothing and shelter.

+ Finances + In 1981, Pope John Paul II ordered annual financial disclosures to debunk the idea that the Vatican is rich. Here is an article on the 2008 annual financial report from the Vatican: http://www.foxnews.com/wires/2008Jul09/0,4670,VaticanFinances,00.html And 2007: http://www.cbc.ca/world/story/2008/07/09/vatican-finances.html + Riches + The mission of the Catholic Church is to proclaim and establish the Kingdom of God begun by Jesus Christ among all peoples. The Church endeavors to save souls. Keeping the priceless art available at the Vatican in trust for all mankind to come, see, and inspire belief in the Kingdom of God is part of this mission. The Church might be able to raise a couple of billion dollars by selling everything but that would soon be gone and the world would not be much better off. Especially if mankind does not change for the better. Both the Old and New Testament says that it is the mission of all mankind (including you and me) to love our neighbors as much as we love ourselves. It is our job to stop poverty and create justice and peace. If every human being on the planet gave $10 then $60 billion would be raised. If the one billion people in the richest countries gave one $100 each then $100 billion would be raised. Not only do these riches make the Vatican art collections look paltry, this is only a fraction of what can really be raised if people got their priorities straight. You and I and the rest of humanity can do much much more to "help people" than the Vatican can all by itself. We need to stop making excuses for our selfishness by pushing the blame on to the Catholic Church. By the way, the Catholic Charities worldwide distribute billions of dollars in goods and services each year to the needy and have been doing so for well over a thousand years. Oh, and lets not forget that the Vatican has the ultimate responsibility for the lifelong support of over 400,000 priests, over 54,000 religious brothers, and over 760,000 religious sisters worldwide. http://cara.georgetown.edu/bulletin/index.htm With love in Christ.
