The pope why is it he gets to live in the Vatican like a king when Jesus Christ himself never went on like this. I'm also pretty sure that Jesus Christ himself didn't have body guards like what he has and that Jesus actually went to ordinary Joe soaps houses to have bread and wine etc. He is not Jesus Christ and the Jews say he is not welcome in Israel so why is he still around why is there a pope.? I am catholic and I tell you noe he is not my head leader!.

It's just called hierarchy...as with any organization. He has body guards cause people try and kill him. But you can't say "why is he doing this when Jesus didn't?' The times have changed. Jesus also never say an automobile, heard the radio, watched tv, or even used what we are using right now, the internet. People also used to be able to walk into the White House and talk with the President. They once thought the Earth was flat. We even used to have dinosaurs....bottom line, times change ;-)

Catholicism has had a lot of controversy over the years. They used to be a Theocracy and still consider themselves their own city-state. Their grandeur is to show their power and influence as seen with many empires such as the Roman Empire, Eastern Empires, and China (see Ordos City, infrastructure and huge architecture projects). I believe it started because they adopted the ideals of grandeur from the Roman Empire, who believed in opulence. All religions (except most Hindu- originations) try to show a sense of perfection through grandeur to help show the greatness of their God(s).

i agree. according to the bible, he should be without riches and living in poverty,have no belongings and give all he has to the poor. but how many preachers and priests and so forth, live as jesus said they should live? they are not in touch with what they preach. limo's , big fancy houses, summer retreats, huge bank accounts, ivy league children, prime time t.v. shows,helicopters,the list goes on, and on,and on. i asked one once, why do they live like that and keep the monies they get from people ,that is supposed to be going to help the poor, he laughed and said they had bills to pay,too. i told him a true apostle is supposed to have nothing and live in poverty and give all he has and gets to the poor,just as jesus did. he walked away from me and to this day,he will not talk to me nor will he look me in the eye. they do not follow what they say they do. each does what they want. they aren't supposed to judge either,yet, they are normally the first to judge us.
