Why was the Canon of the Mass changed after the Second Vatican Council?
The Canon of the Mass is the most ancient part of the Mass that goes back to the Apostles. After the Second Vatican Council, it has been altered into different options ... sometimes the priest just makes up the prayer as he goes along during the canon. The Canon of the Mass used to the thus: Therefore, most merciful Father, we humbly beg of Thee and entreat Thee through Jesus Christ Thy Son, Our Lord. Hold acceptable and bless + these gifts, these + offerings, these + holy and unspotted oblations which, in the first place, we offer Thee for Thy Holy Catholic Church. In the unity of holy fellowship we observe the memory, first of all, of the glorious and ever Virgin Mary, Mother of our Lord and God Jesus Christ: likewise of Thy blessed Apostles and Martyrs, Peter and Paul, Andrew, James, John, Thomas, James, Philip, Bartholomew, Matthew, Simon and Thaddeus; of Linus, Cletus, Clement, Sixtus, Cornelius, Cyprian, Lawrence, Chrysogonus, John and Paul, Cosmas and Damian, and all Thy Saints: for the sake of whose merits and prayers do Thou grant that in all things we may be defended by the help of Thy protection. Why would you paste the whole thing when you coudve had more impact by being compact?

Because they change it to fit current sircumstances.The jewish bible (aka christian bible)is the only book known to man kind that has never changed.Personally I would be pissed if somebody ever changed the words in my bible.Just stay strong,yor brave to question such an issue.I admire that.God wouldn't have put it on your heart if it wasn't a true problem.Don't know you but I'm pround of you to confront it.

It is a myth or falsehood that the Mass dates back to the Apostles, who never claimed the "power" to miraculously turn the wafer and wine into the actual body and blood of Christ. The Mass is a sacrifice that is repeated over and over, although Scripture clearly teach that Christ offered His body once for all.
