If terrorists, (from any country) attacked Vatican City, how do you think the world would react?
Would it start a world war? Would Catholics or Christians in general take up vengeance against the terrorists if say, the Holy See was demolished and the city razed? Or in the essence of true Christian charity, would the Pope (if he lived through the attack) forgive and ask people to obey Christ's command to "love your enemies?"

No one will be starting a war in my name. All major religions and many minor ones are evil, greed based organisations which should be wiped out anyway, but in a peaceful way please.

Vatican will encourage the terrorists to forgive But such acts will get a reaction from Pope friends : United States (Cristians) Dalai Lama (Buddist) and others

Maybe I would cheer. Rev 18:16And saying, Alas, alas, that great city, that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stones, and pearls! Rev 18:17For in one hour so great riches is come to nought. And every shipmaster, and all the company in ships, and sailors, and as many as trade by sea, stood afar off, Rev 18:18And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What [city is] like unto this great city! Rev 18:19And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and wailing, saying, Alas, alas, that great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea by reason of her costliness! for in one hour is she made desolate. Rev 18:20Rejoice over her, [thou] heaven, and [ye] holy apostles and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her.

In 1982 when a Muslim assassin shot the late Pope John Paul II, the Pope forgave the man. I challenge anyone to do any better than that.

Pope John Paul II visited Mehmet Ali AÄŸca, the man whom the Soviets got to try to assassination him, in his jail cell and forgave him. But AÄŸca still served the sentence for his crime. Justice and forgiveness can go hand in hand. This happens all the time in prisons all around the world when convicts repent of their sins and turn back to God. There may also be the issue of protecting other people in the world from the terrorists. With love in Christ.

Pope already did make such coments after september 11.Pope always tells people to forgive and 'love your enemies'.But I don't think that would be the reaction of other Christians and Catholics who have to fight back to survive. And we already are in a 'war against terror'.So attacking Vatican wouldn't make much difference except maybe fuel Christians' and Catholics' anger. If you don't back in time you can kiss Christianity goodbye.
