If the Vatican accepts evolution why are you a fundamentalist

If the Vatican accepts evolution why are you a fundamentalist?
I read an article on the Vatican's point of view on science and there is a general agreement in the vatican that the universe is in fact 13 Billion years old and that all living life on earth stemmed from a single celled organism. So if the Vatican accepts these ideas then why is there still pure fundamentalists arguing why are you arguing with the pope? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Evolution_and_the_Catholic_Church

Not all Christians recognize the Vatican as holy

Just like the media making up stuff. Agreeing with the Vatican will not get me into heaven. Following Christ will, I am here to learn more about Jesus and do his will not to do the will of man. EVOLUTION STILL HAS NO PROOF WHERE IS THE VIDEO TAPE EVIDENCE?

I don't follow the pope. He is just a man.
4 :
"Fundementalists" are Protestants, not Catholics. Protestants do not recognise the pope as having any spiritual authority
5 :
Not every Christian is a Catholic. And according to many protestants, Catholics aren't Christians. As an atheist I try to stay out of it.
6 :
Catholics and Protestants have been fighting the Reformation for hundreds of years. Both sides are mental.

The vatican do accept evolution.

the operative word in the brackets and caps below should answer your question as to why fundies don't accept evolution and the vatican does. As an Orthodox Agnostic Fundamentalist, I don't much care what the Vatican believes, but in this case The Church of Rome seems to be right.

Does the pope know Jesus? If he does not know Jesus then he knows nothing, but maybe about God. But only through Jesus can we know God. And as far as time and creation, know this. It is written: 'A day it to a thousand years as a thousand years is to a day.' So creation took billions of years. God took billions of years (in our time) to create each day. So knowing this, God could have created the dinosaurs and by the end of that very day, they could have been extinct and probably were. So creation took billions of our years to create. Then after God was done with creation, God made the day 24 hours. Also know this, God is outside of time. God created time and is not bound by it. So a billion years to God in less than a blink of an eye. So what is our lives of 100 years? In terms of eternity. bless you.

There is no "pope" in the Bible. Every "pope" is a false prophet. And "evolution" is a lie and never happened. Catholicism is not Christian, doctrinally. Catholicism won't get even one person into heaven.

You guys seems to call anyone that differs in opinion/view from yourselves "fundies"...hardly an accurate measuring tape! You also fail miserably to understand the vast differences between people of faith and recognize therefore that the majority of them don't lift up the Vatican. In fact, a great number of Catholics don't even heed the Vatican, or there would be way more virgins out there and far less divorce! Oh yeah, and it wouldn't be a dangerous thing to be an alter boy now, would it?! ; ] The Pope holds no real authority despite their claims that he does...he is just a man, like every other.

Because Catholics stopped eradicating people that didn't follow what they believed, silly.

It's because it is not a true church, only some of the people that are baptized as Roman Catholics practice the faith. Pope Benedict doesn't believe in Roman Catholicism, for he called for a "new world order."

Lets get one point across right off okay? Fundamentalists are not Catholic. Many Fundamentalists stand on pretty shaky ground as they neither believe the Bible to be fundamentally correct nor do they believe in fundamental observance of its principals. If you look in a good dictionary you will find a separate definition for fundamentalist faiths because they do not fit within any common definition of the word. Many of them believe the entire Bible is inspired by God and they go beyond that to add teachings found nowhere in scripture. There is nothing fundamental about any of this so it would certainly be prudent to expect heretical views in many areas. Now lets look at your statement about the age of the Earth. I highly doubt that there is general agreement in the Catholic church as I have a genuine challenge with there being generalized acceptance of a date in biology. There are some pretty well respected Catholic scientists.I think the best scientists are probably misrepresented in this. I base this on a lot of reference work and personal conversations. If biology or any other science for that matter were to present a united front on theories they would cease to be science and become a bunch of paper trolls.
