CHRISTIANS: Should religion be made more community based/run

CHRISTIANS: Should religion be made more community based/run?
Churches are losing members everyday. In my opinion it's because religion is controlled, for Roman Catholics anyway, by an old doting man living on gold in the Vatican. How does one man get to make decisions for millions of people?? Stepping away from the religious reasons to why there's a Pope, doesn't that sound unfair? Like dictatorship?? For instance, the child sex abuse scandals we've heard of recently in countries such as Ireland and Australia sparked outrage among the religious and non-religious. But the countries, by law, couldn't do anything because religion is so dominant. That is sickeningly cruel. Why do they have to wait to see what the Pope will say? Why can't there be a head priest or whatever in a country who makes the decisions on what to do in these cases? If I recall correctly the Pope just wrote a letter to the people of Ireland, expressing his sorrow at what had happend..... which helps how?? Let religion be run by the people. Let it become more 21st century. Let it be fun, exciting, interesting and open to everyone. I hate religion because of the statuses. Why can't it be equal?

The True Christian Faith is one-on-one with God.... It does not require any man invented organization

Perhaps you should address your question to the Catholics on line. Most American Churches are not ran from Rome, but right here in our own hometowns.

"Churches are losing members everyday. In my opinion it's because religion is controlled" No, its because people are gaining common sense and becoming Atheist. Try looking up the story of the Flying Spaghetti Monster. It has the same amount of proof/evidence as any other 100's of gods.

Hate can be blinding. Forgiveness allows inner sight. We are moving into an era of grassroots power, but we must take it on as we are ready.
