Anyone have an opnion on this guy Pope Michael?
So yesterday I run into a man named Bawden during the course of my work day who turns out to be a somewhat widely known pope of the vatican in exile. Anyone else ever heard of this guy, I live only a few hours from him and never had before that day. http://popemichael.homestead.com/ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/David_Bawden Well I had to listen to his rap trying to get me to forgive someone basically. He certainly talks as good a game as an preacher I have ever dealt with. I just thought it was kind of odd and wondered if anyone else had heard of him in the rest of the world ..

He isn't a "pope in exile." He's a nutjob who thinks that he is the legitimate pope. Of course he has absolutely nothing to base this claim on. He's got about a dozen followers, if he's the guy I'm thinking of. Sometimes it can be hard to keep all the nutjobs straight.

He's a sedevacantist....means "vacant seat", i.e...he believes the real Pope is false because those groups don't accept the changes that happened in the church after the second Vatican council. He's only "in exile" because he's made himself so. Many people would argue that he's not even a Catholic.

He is an "antipope," an self-appointed individual claiming the authority over the church. He is not in exile, and does not hold a legitimate claim to the Papacy. He is not the first, nor will he be the last. He probably is a wonderful preacher, full of knowledge and wisdom, but he is claiming to hold an office which he can't prove he ever held, and that is a little bit crazy.

He some crazy guy who needs help, plain and simple. He is one of those sede vacanties, who say the office of the Bishop of Rome(Pope), has bee vacant since the death of Pope Pius XIII. People make up reasons why they were illegit, so they can thrust themselves into public. He's nuttier then squirrel poo.
