How many people live in Vatican City

How many people live in Vatican City?
How many people live in Vatican City other than the pope and clergy? Do they have schools, offices, shopping places, etc. ? I'm not talking about St. Peter's Basilica, but the actual city itself outside.

I think the entourage lives in town

About 1,000. There's a post office, a small administrative staff, the Swiss Guards, the clergy in residence, etc.

It is a city like all others in that it has a population, stores, schools, police, laws, etc. The similarity to other cities ends there. For example: The politics of Vatican City takes place in an absolute theocratic monarchy, in which the head of the Catholic Church takes power. The Pope exercises ex officio principal legislative, executive, and judicial power over the State of Vatican City (an entity distinct from the Holy See), which is a rare case of a non-hereditary monarchy. Wikipedia has a page on it, if you want to go look it up. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vatican_City

The population of Vatican City is about 800 people. Here is the official website of the Vatican City State: http://www.vaticanstate.va/EN/homepage.htm + for population information, see: http://www.vaticanstate.va/EN/State_and_Government/General_informations/Population.htm With love in Christ.
