Why does the post-Vatican II Catholic Church now teach that Islam is a good religion

Why does the post-Vatican II Catholic Church now teach that Islam is a good religion?
Here are some teachings from the Popes before the Second Vatican Council about Islam: "I vow to... exalt the true Faith, and to extirpate the diabolical sect of the reprobate and faithless Mahomet (Islam) in the east." - Pope Callixtus III "... there is hope that very many from the abominable sect of Mahomet will be converted to the Catholic Faith." - Pope Eugene IV "Turn the anger of the Almighty against the godless Turks and Barbarians who despise Christ the Lord" - Pope Pius II "In the royal city of the east, they have slain the successor of Constantine and his people, desecrated the temples of the Lord, defiled the noble church of Justinian with their Mohometan abominations. Each success, will only be a stepping stone until he has mastered all the Western Monarchs, overthrow the Christian Faith, and imposed the law of his false prophet on the whole world" - Pope Pius II "They are to forbid expressly the public invocation of the sacrilegious name of Mohomet ..." - Pope Clement V "... the Turks and other infidels ... They treat the way of true light and salvation with complete contempt and totally unyielding blindess ..." - Pope Leo X "It decreed most solemnly in its third canon, among other matters, as you know, that Turkish or Mohammedan names should not be given either to children or adults in baptism. It also decreed that the faithful of Christ should not allow themselves to be called by Turkish or Mohammedan names which they had never received, for the purpose of either exemption or immunity from taxes, or the advantage of free trading, or avoiding penalties." - Pope Benedict XIV Here are some teachings from the Popes after the Second Vatican Council about Islam: "My visit to Turkey afforded me the opportunity to show also publicly my respect for the Islamic religion, a respect, moreover, which the Second Vatican Council (Nostra Aetate) pointed out ..." - Pope Benedict XVI "... Nostra Aetate, which as ushered in a new season of dialogue and spirtual solidarity between Jews and Christians, as well as esteem for the other great religious traditions. Islam occupies a special place among them." - Pope Benedict XVI "... my personal view of the Qur'an, for which I have the respect due to the holy book of a great religion." - Pope Benedixt XVI "The believer - and all of us, us Christians and Muslims, are believers ... You guide Muslim believers and train them in the Islamic faith ..." - Pope Benedict XVI "I thus had the favorable opportunity to renew my sentiments of esteem for the Muslims and for the Islamic civilizations." - Pope Benedixt XVI "I thank those who are developing Islamic culture ..." - Pope John Paul II "Live your faith also in a foreign land ..." - Pope John Paul II "May Saint John the Baptist protect Islam and all the people of Jordan ..." - Pope John Paul II "We would also like you to know that the Church recognizes the riches of the Islamic faith - a faith that binds us to the one God." - Pope Paul VI "Twenty-two martyrs were recognized, but there were many more, and not only Catholics. There were also Anglicans and some Mohammedans." - Pope Paul VI "... Our high respect for the faith you profess ... We gladly recall also those confessors of the Moslem faith ..." - Pope Paul VI for those of you who are claiming to be Catholic, do you not see the dramatic difference in how the Church viewed Islam before Vatican II??? Are you all that blind???

The Popes stopped teaching the truth at least 1500 years ago when the first man to be known as Pope lived.

when you muslems stop obeying the father of lies satin, this world will be a much better place.,practice the holy rosary, practice makes perfect,we love you all,the holy family.

The Catholic church and Islam are united in their desire to conceal and obscure the teachings of Jesus Christ. Their high profile friendship is good for capturing headlines, and therefore is a good distraction for the public to take any attention away from the teachings of Jesus. Just as for the Muslims, the spread of tribal violence has usurped the truth of God. Just as for the Catholics, who with their crusades obscured the teaching of Christ. Now they stand together up to their necks in lies.

The Church recognizes that some religions, like Islam, Judaism, and Protestantism, while incomplete, do worship the one true God, and the Church rightly acknowledges that measure of goodness and truth that they possess. This does not in any way lessen the fact that Jesus Christ founded one Church for all mankind, and desires that all mankind be members of it - which is and always will be the teaching of the Holy Catholic Church.

Text without context is a pretext. By ignoring the historical, cultural, social, and political contexts, your quotes mean nothing. Anti-Catholic bigots do the same thing with the writings of the Church Fathers. Maybe its overdue for Christian leaders to stand up and talk of peace, unless you would rather the persecutions from Muslems to be worse than what it is. And why is it just the Catholic Church advocating constructive dialogue?

don't worry about it, catholic faith is also wrong and they make no difference from each others faith. peace and may God bless your soul/mind :)))

For the same reason that only catholics can be saints and that they can change the way heaven works when it is beneficial for recruiting. For the same reason child abuse by a priest can be an 'internal matter' for the church but a teenager masturbating will go to hell.

Their agendas behind closed doors are very similar. Religion in general is loosing its appeal because it is outdated and they are loosing their congregations. By uniting they will gain strength and influence for the future. A return to the 'dark age' mentality
9 :
Because John Paul 2 embraced them as a monotheistic of one God, which I think is funny since Catholics are taught to worship statues,beads,etc.. making icons/idols out of just about anything. But if you combine the " two " Roman Catholic and Islam you would get a death list would out match all who died in all wars.

It's a good religion in many ways, but not all. Only Catholicism has the fullness of truth.

The Catholic Church teaches, "The plan of salvation also includes those who acknowledge the Creator, in the first place amongst whom are the Muslims; these profess to hold the faith of Abraham, and together with us they adore the one, merciful God, mankind's judge on the last day." "It is my ardent hope that Muslim and Christian religious leaders and teachers will present our two great religious communities as communities in respectful dialogue, never more as communities in conflict." -- Pope John Paul II, Meeting with Muslim Leaders in Omayyad Great Mosque, Damascus, May 6, 2001. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/john_paul_ii/speeches/2001/documents/hf_jp-ii_spe_20010506_omayyadi_en.html Christians and Muslims, following their respective religions, point to the truth of the sacred character and dignity of the person. This is the basis of our mutual respect and esteem, this is the basis for cooperation in the service of peace between nations and peoples, the dearest wish of all believers and all people of good will. As an illustration of the fraternal respect with which Christians and Muslims can work together, I would like to quote some words addressed by Pope Gregory VII in 1076 to a Muslim prince in North Africa who had acted with great benevolence towards the Christians under his jurisdiction. Pope Gregory spoke of the particular charity that Christians and Muslims owe to one another “because we believe in one God, albeit in a different manner, and because we praise him and worship him every day as the Creator and Ruler of the world.” -- Pope Benedict XVI, Meeting with the President of the Turkish Religious Affairs Directorate in Ankara, Turkey, November 28, 2006. http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/speeches/2006/november/documents/hf_ben-xvi_spe_20061128_pres-religious-affairs_en.html Dialogue are already taking place all over the world. Just in the United States there is the - Midwest Dialogue of Catholics and Muslims - Mid-Atlantic Dialogue of Catholics and Muslims - West Coast Dialogue of Catholics and Muslims For more information, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church, section 841: http://www.usccb.org/catechism/text/pt1sect2chpt3art9p3.shtml#841 and http://www.usccb.org/seia/islam_index.shtml With love in Christ.

Because its a different religion. And because modern Vatican II "catholics" worship John Paul II who was the Antichrist. Benedict XVI is the false prophet.

NewChurch has also dropped the valid Mass and its salvific graces do not reach those who attend. This is the worst crime of Vatican 2. Those who deny this are stuck with denial, but they never attempt to prove themselves with what their "Mass" actually contains. They cannot, because the NewMass is virtually stripped of the apostolic and ancient prayers of confection and transubstantiation. The same principle applies to their NewPopes, who seldom quote any other papal or doctrinal sources. No, that they avoid. So the NewMembers never can see what you have placed here, the doctrines spoken of by the hierarchy BEFORE, and the non-encyclicals constructed from whole cloth AFTER. The handwriting could not be more clear than this. If the footnotes were attached it would be astounding, but y@hoo doesn't give us that much license. Why don't the Vaticanistas see it? It has to do with two factors. The ability to think, and the ability to research. Both have been taken from students now for over 50 years by the Progressive Education Society and by the Progressive Vatican 2 Society, both saturated with Socialistic and liberal Alinskyism (communistic socialism). The goal was to replace thinking with emotion and platitudes, and doctrine with junk. It has worked. TraditionalMass.org

Hmm bunch of Papal statements. But, what of verse 841 in the Catechism. That is Catholic law. Pope's can say almost anything. And, that predates Vatican II.
